Business Communication Tip -- BCC

Your business communication tip today has to with sending the same email to a number of people...

When you have to write an email that will be sent to many different people, you should send it using the Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) feature.

When you use BCC it will hide the email addresses of all the other people you sent it too, from the recipients.

This is good to do because it will maintain the privacy of the other peoples email addresses. You never know who out there might be a spammer and people wouldn't appreciate you giving their email address to them.

Also, using the BCC is a good practice to get in the habit of because it hides the fact that you sent the exact same email to many people. Your customers or clients want to feel special, so let them think you took the time to just send them a "special" email.

Until next time... Have a great day! Now, go and practice using the BCC function to make your business communication even more effective.

Business Communication Tip -- Serve Your Customers

Ok Everyone, I am now back and caught up from the long weekend away with my girlfriend. To be honest with you, I wish I was still on vacation but I guess reality has to set back in sometime.

Well, we are still on the topic of business communication. Today's business communication tip is to serve your customers well. How do you do that, you ask? Well, there are thousands of ways but I am going to give you just one of them today...

Show your customers that you appreciate their business, or even their interest in your business, by sending them a personal "Thank You" note. This will be better served in snail mail (regular mail) rather than email.

By sending this "thank you", you will make a very good impression and they will really appreciate it. This will make them start to like you, and your business, even more.

Eventually, they will also pay more attention to your emails and direct mails, this will result in more sales from existing customers and most likely more referrals too.

Until next time... Have a great evening! Now, go and send some thank you notes to get that great business communication going.

A Big Apology

Hello Everyone,

As you have probably noticed it has been four days since my last blog entry. I am pretty sure that is the longest I have ever gone without posting since I started this business blog.

I just wanted to apologize, to all my wonderful blog readers, for the delay.

I have been out of town for three days for my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend. I had very limited access to a computer in the hotel lobby so I didn't get much business done (not that I tried too hard, I was on vacation).

Anyway, I am now behind on all sorts of business tasks to take care of. Not to mention the hundreds of emails I need to sort through, and school work to do.

I will try and resume normal blog posting tomorrow (Tuesday) night. If I can't get to it tomorrow, I will definitely make sure I do on Wednesday.

See you all then!

Dedicated to your success,
Trent Brownrigg

PS - Don't forget to tell all your friends about all the great business information and resources you learn by reading this blog everyday. I am sure they would love to check it out too! ;-)

Business Communication Tip -- Personal Contact Is Best

Emails that are answered personally, by you, are much better than having a secretary or assistant answer them.

People looking on the Internet for products, services, and business opportunites are usually quite skeptical as it is. If they receive a personal email from you it will go a long with in easing their worries.

When someone else answers them it will show in the email. They usually aren't as personable, they may not know as much or care as much, and it shows you are really there for them when it's you taking the time to reply.

Also, you should ALWAYS be honest and straightforward in your replies. This is something that I make sure I always do in my emails to people. Don't try and tell them what they want to hear, even when you know it's not true...

...Sure, you might get the sale or sign-up this time, but you can forget about any referrals from this person, repeat business, etc... Plus, one bad commment will do a lot more damage to your business than 100 good comments will help it.

Some of my best business affiliates and clients have told me that the only reason they stuck with me is because I was honest and straightforward with them, and I personally replied back to them quickly.

Doing all of this will show that you are a real human being (like them) who actually cares.

Until next time... Have a great day!

Business Communication Tip -- Stay in Contact

OK, you made a sale, someone signed up for your program, gave a referral, or just inquired about your business. This means you have them for life, right? Wrong!

Just because a customer did business with you once does not mean they will do it again... Even if they are completely satisfied with the business.

Why not, you ask? Well, they could simply forget about you, or not know you offer other services, or forget where to find you, or any of about a million other reasons.

What can you do about this? Keep in contact with them.

Send emails every now and then just to say hi, ask if they are satisfied, if they need anything, etc...

Send out greeting cards or holiday cards. Maybe a flier or a booklet. Gifts are always a great way to keep someone thinking about you.

Whatever you do just make sure clients don't forget about you.

Be careful though!!! You don't want to send too many emails, greeting cards, fliers, etc... or they may get annoyed and decide they don't want to do business with you anymore.

Keep your contact efforts balance and you will do great.

Until next time... Have a great night!

Trent Brownrigg

Business Communication Tip --- Be Polite

There will be times when customers or prospects have troubles with things.

Maybe a download link doesn't work, maybe they got a broken product, maybe they can't find something on your site, or just have a question your business.

They will email you, call you, post on your forum, or however else they can get it solved. Any smart business person would help them with the problem right away. Certainly you do that but are you polite??

You see, almost everyone fixes the problem but not everyone is polite about it. Be Polite and you will be worlds ahead of your competition in many cases.

Give an apology, offer a freebie for their troubles, have some warmth and sincerity in your email or phone call back to them. This will go a VERY long way in helping your business reputation.

Customer service is key to any online business. Provide great service and make the customer feel important in every situation.

Until next time... Have a great day! Now go and POLITELY reply to all those emails you recieved today.

Cheap Advertising and Promotion Tip

You send all sorts of promotion and advertising stuff to your client list. Whether it's an email, a brochure, an announcement, a coupon, or anything else you send, it is really to keep your business name in the prospects mind.

Rather than just sending them some sort of advertisement or announcement about your business, try sending them a booklet full of tips to help them with a problem in your particular niche.

For instance... If your business is teaching people how to effectively market their business... You could send out a small booklet with 10 free marketing tips to help them get free traffic to their websites.

You could make a lot of these booklets for a relatively cheap price. Then it only costs a stamp to send. I would venture to bet your ROI would be very good for a promotional campaign like this.

Doing this is better advertisement for your business than most other promotional materials you could send. Plus, they are much more likely to keep this around so it will keep you in their minds than your competition.

Give it a try, I bet it helps.

Until next time... Have a great night! Now, go and get some promotional booklets made and start sending them.

Marketing Ideas, News and Thoughts

Today I came across a very informative Blog that I think is a great resource for everyone.

It is similar to this one in that it shares marketing ideas, free tools, news, resources, etc...

I don't have any affiliation with it nor do I know the owner or anything else like that. I just found a link to it from another free marketing blog and found it to be a great business resource.

Check it out... Marketing Ideas, News and Thoughts

What NOT to have on your website - Part 5

OK, we have reached our 5th and final day of what NOT to have on your website. Go back and Seriously take these simple suggestions into consideration because they could be what makes or breaks your website.

Alright, here is #5...

You should NOT have colored text on a colored background. This is especially true if the colors are any bit alike or if they are both bright or dark.

Some visitors to your site may not have good eyesight, others simply won't want to strain to read it, and others just may not like having color on color.

Your best bet is to keep black text on white background and have blue underlined links.

If you do have a colored background then make sure the text is very easily readable. A good way to ensure this is to always have a light background with a dark text.

Until next time... Have a great evening! Now go and make your website as user friendly as possible.

Dedicated to your success,
Trent Brownrigg

What NOT to have on your website - Part 4

One more thing that you should definitely NOT have on your website is Spelling Mistakes!

With so many spell checking programs and proof readers out there you should take the time to make sure your website is free from spelling mistakes.

It will make it much harder on yourself to get your visitors to trust you if they think you can't spell.

It all boils down to professionalism and having a lot of spelling mistakes will make you look very unprofessional.

We all miss one or two. Even the spell checkers miss some if they are just grammar mistakes. So a couple spelling mistakes won't matter. However, more than that will most likely harm your visitor conversion.

Until next time... Have a great day! Now go and proof read your website.

Trent Brownrigg

What NOT to have on your website - Part 3

OK, today's business website tip is going to be quick. I have a calculus exam tomorrow, a marketing research exam tomorrow, and homework due in two other classes. I really don't have any time to put towards the biz today. (Yes, I am whining! I bet you can almost feel the tears through the computer screen, can't ya?)

Anyway, I really love my blog readers (that's you) so I am still making some time to get you your daily dose of the biz tips blog.

Here we go...

You should NOT have slow loading pages on your website. This is absolutely, definitely, especially true for your home page!

It has been researched time and time again... People only spend a few seconds waiting for a site to load. If your site takes longer than that then you can kiss your visitor good-bye!

If you have to break up your home page into smaller pages to get it to load faster then go do it right now. Images also make it much slower, so dump some of them if you can.

OK, gotta go study. Talk to you tomorrow or the next day.

Until next time... Have a great evening! Now go and make your site load faster.

Dedicated to your success,
Trent Brownrigg

Remembering 9/11

This is an obvious day to stray away from home business advice and focus on much more important things.

I am sure you know about the events that occured 3 years ago today on 9/11/2001.

The world was changed on that day. There have been so many events that have come out of that day and so many loved ones lives lost.

Please keep the innocent victims of 9/11 in your thoughts and prayers today as well as those that have lost their lives since that day due to it's effect on the world.

The family and friends of those killed on that tragic day will always be in my heart along with all the brave policemen, firefighters, and rescue workers who lost their lives saving others.

God is with you all!

What NOT to have on your website - Part 2

Ok, here is another feature that you should not include on your website...

Banner Ads

It is perfectly find to have one or MAYBE two banners on your homepage (or any other page) but don't make the mistake of adding 3, or 6, or 10 banner ads on any page of your website.

This is a mistake that a LOT of people make so don't be one of those people and you will be that much up on the competition.

It is a fact that peoples eyes actually look away from banners. Visitor don't like them and they make your site load slower, which is another thing visitors hate.

Banner ads also take some of the trust out of your site. People see it as one big ad and not useful in any other way.

Keep the banners away!

Until next time... Have a great day! Now, go take some of those banners off your site.

Trent Brownrigg

What NOT to have on your website - Part 1

Since most people that read this blog have a website, or are probably thinking of building one soon, I decided to spend a week or so talking about what you should NOT have on your website.

Keeping these things away from your website will help you with Search Engines and Human visitors.

They will be in no particular order because they are all important.

OK, here's the first thing to NOT have on your website...

Broken Links and Messed Up Images

Search engines don't like you to have broken links on your website at all. It also makes it harder for the robots to spider your site when they run into broken links that they can't follow.

Human visitors hate broken links just as much. Just imagine if a prospect clicks on a link that you have titled "The Top Work at Home Opportunity in the World" but it doesn't work. Do you think they will trust you anymore? Probably NOT!

Even if your site was just built yesterday Humans and SE's will see it as out of date and poorly kept up if you have broken links and images on it.

Check your links and images regularly. Have someone you know check them from their computer too. Sometimes images show up differently on other computers.

Until next time... Have a great day! Now go and make sure your site doesn't have any broken links or images.

Come back all this week for 7 (or so) things you should NOT do with your website.

Business Promotion Tip - Promotional Key Chain

Key Chains are a great way to promote your business. Similar to using ink pens for advertising as discussed in a past topic (check arvhives).

You can have key chains printed with a little advertisement of your business and then give them away everywhere.

Imagine how many times someone will see your business advertisement if it is printed on their key chain! They are sure to check out your website at least once. What a great way to promote your business!

Key chains are not very expensive and they are great for promoting your business and getting your advertisement seen over and over again by prospects.

Give the key chains away as gifts, hand them out to prospects, or get them to people any other way you can think of.

Here is a website I came across today where you can get promotional key chains and a number of other great promotional items...

Very Useful Link Development Information

I came across an article today that explains a lot about the hotly debated topic of reciprocal linking.

If you have a website and/or have been in online business for any amount of time then I am sure you have heard about recpiprocal linking. If you have not heard of it then you will soon. I guarantee it!

Many of the "experts" have differing opinions on reciprocal links. It seems that nobody can agree as to whether or not they help you, hurt you, or don't do anything at all.

I, for one, am all for reciprocal linking. I think that they are very helpful in many ways when done correctly. That is also why I really like this article because it tells you how to correctly do reciprocal links.

The article is 5 pages (quick read) of very useful information about reciprocal links. You will learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of reciprocal links.

Here you go... Reciprocal Links: Are They Really So Bad?

Until next time... Have a great day! Now, go and begin your reciprocal link campaign the "right" way.

Happy Holiday Everyone!!!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy Labor Day. If you don't live in the USA then you probably don't know what the heck I am talking about...

Here in the United States we are celebrating a holiday called Labor Day. Most people get the day off of work today so we can relax and/or be with our friends and family.

If you work at home (like me) then this may not be any different than any other day (although I am taking it easy today). Or if you run a home based business part time when you are not at work then this might be a good day to get some business stuff done.

Whatever you are doing today I hope it is filled with joy, love, and safety!

Have a great Labor Day! If you don't celebrate Labor day then have a wonderful "normal" day :-)

Business Marketing Resource - Movies

How many people do you know that go to a movie at least once per month? Now multiply that number by about 100,000,000 and you will get how many people go to movies every week.

Personally I go to at least 3 movies per month. Now I don't know if I am typical or not but I do know that a LOT of people are there EVERY time I go.

What does this mean for your business? Think about it...

There are ALWAYS a bunch of ads before every movie. They rotate around and are usually shown at least 3 times before the previews start.

You can place one of these ads and get your business advertisement shown to a lot of people each week.

Here is a resource that I have found for doing this... Movie Ad Media

Until next time... Have a great day! Now go and get some advertising done for your business.

Free Home Based Business Success Tip - Hours of Operation

In order to run a successful work at home based business these days you need to be "open" when others are at home.

I am guessing your home based business is online. Well... When are others online? They are usually online when they are at home and not at work.

That means that you have to work your home based business while they are at home. Gone are the days of running your business Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Now you must work your business with hours more like 4pm-12pm and on weekends.

I realize that you started your own home based business so you could set your own hours and not have to work when you don't want too. However, in order to really get started on the right foot and succeed you will often have to work when others are at home.

If you have yet to start your own home based business then consider teaming up with the #1 Online Home Based Business in the world.

Until next time... Have a great day! Now, go start on your path to work at home based business success.

Free Traffic Generation Tip - Business Networking Communities

Business Networking Communities are great for online home business people to form business relationships with other businesses similar to theirs.

Why are these communities good for you? Here's why...

Being a member of these business networking communities gives you the opportunity to set up joint ventures, share ideas, exchange links (think SE rankings), etc... with the other members.

Make sure to only network with other business people that have similar businesses to yours. You don't want to become a partner with a business that will send un-targetted traffic your way.

Typically the business networking communities will allow you to set up your own personal page or profile. You can compare these to the ones many forums let you set up, or your "about me" page on ebay. You can put a link to your website in your profile to send more free traffic to your site.

There are quite a few of these business networking communities all over the internet. Doing a search for "business networking community" or other variations of the search should get you a good list.

Here are a couple of my favorites to get you started...

http://www.ryze.com
http://www.alwayson-network.com

Until next time... Have a great day! Now go and set up some business network partnerships.
