A great way to spread the word about your business is to sponsor events in your area. There are many games, events, charity drives, intramurals, little leagues, etc... That are just waiting for people like you to give a little bit of your $$$ to help out.

You will usually get your business name on a T-shirt, or sign, or flyer, or something else related to the event. A lot of people will be seeing these events and YOUR business name. It is a great way to drive local traffic to your website or offline business if you have one.

Then, it may just set in the word-of-mouth train if you give a good impression. Before you know it you may have hundreds or thousands of new visitors just because you gave a little money to sponsor a couple events.
